Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple-Lavender Deodorant

Make your own deodorant simply at home. Contains no aluminum or other chemical additives.

1 part apple cider vinegar
1 part water
several drops of lavender oil for fragrance (optional)
spray bottle

Combine equal parts of apple cider vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Add lavender oil for a pleasant scent, if desired. Spray underarms with mixture daily, or as often as needed.
This natural deodorant works by neutralizing body odor. It is gentle to the skin. The vinegar smell evaporates within 10 minutes. Look in the cosmetics section of stores for colorful plastic spray bottles.

Foot Deodorant

Spray Apple-Lavender Deodorant on feet and wipe off excess. Helps neutralize odors and makes skin silky, smooth and fresh.

Vaginal Deodorant

Apple-Lavender Deodorant is also excellent for cleansing the vagina. It is more effective than soap and water for neutralizing odors and keeping the natural bacteria in balance. Spray vaginal area as needed. No rinsing necessary.

Hair Rinse

Removes shampoo and chemical residue. Add softness and shine. This hair rinse is especially helpful for hair that feels dry.
The high acid content plus the enzymes in the raw apple cider vinegar kill the bottle bacillus. These bacteria cause such problems as itching scalp and dandruff.

1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
warm water to make 4 cups

  1. Mix apple cider vinegar and warm water in quart container.
  2. Shampoo and rinse hair.
  3. Squeeze out excess water.
  4. Pour mixture over hair and rub into scalp.
  5. Leave on at least a minute and rinse.

Vegetable Wash

Pesticide residues on fruits and vegetables can cause health problems in young children and sensitive adults. Apple cider vinegar helps get rid of chemical residues. Soak fresh produce a few minutes in 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar and enough water to cover.
Scrub and rinse in cold running water.

An old doctor in a small town finally took a vacation. He assigned his youngest son, not long out of medical school, to look after his practice. When the father returned, he asked his son if anything unusual had happened in his absence.
“I cured that indigestion Mrs. Collins had been suffering from for thirty years,” the son proudly announced.
“You did what?” His father stormed. “How could you? It was that indigestion that put you through prep school, college and medical school!”

Apple Cider Vinegar Cocktail

This is health pioneer Paul Bragg’s famous tonic for heartburn. We’ve successfully used it on guests with upset stomachs and they’ve found quick relief.

1 heaping teaspoon raw honey
2 teaspoons raw apple cider vinegar
8 ounce glass of warm water

     Mix ingredients together and drink.
We like to substitute 2 teaspoons of dried sugar cane juice (Sucanat) for the heaping teaspoon of honey. Both apple cider vinegar and dried sugar cane juice is high in potassium.
For variety, substitute mint tea for the water in the Apple Cider Vinegar Cocktail.

What’s Going On?

Many people think that too much acid causes heartburn in the stomach. But heartburn occurs when there is not enough of the right kind of acid to digest food properly.
The stomach needs hydrochloric acid to break down food. When there is not enough hydrochloric acid, the food starts to putrefy, producing organic acids which cause heartburn and indigestion.
Over-the-counter antacids appear to help because they neutralize these organic acids and the pain goes away. But the antacids have aggravated the situation because they have left the stomach more alkaline. Now an even greater amount of hydrochloric acid must be produced to finish digestion.
Apple cider vinegar is rich in malic acid, which increases the acidity of digestive fluids causing them to flow faster, which improves digestion.

Stiff Joints

Paul Bragg says he remembers seeing his dad come in from a grueling day of farm work during harvest time. His dad had been up since before daybreak and it was now late at night. He would go into the kitchen and fix the Apple Cider Vinegar Cocktail.
Paul’s dad explained, “Son, farm work is long, hard work. It can produce chronic fatigue in the body. Whatever is in this mixture relieves me of that chronic fatigue.
The ingredient that was so effective in the drink was potassium. It helped renew his vitality and relieve the stiffness in his joints.
Potassium helps eliminate toxins from the body by putting them in solution so that they can be carried out of the body. It is as essential to the soft tissues of the body as calcium is to the hard structures. Potassium keeps the tissues healthy, soft and pliable.
The potassium in apple cider vinegar is like a detergent for the arteries. Clogged, caked arteries are cleaned out by taking the Apple Cider Vinegar Cocktail several times a day.
Many stiff-jointed men and women are set free from their misery after several months of taking the Apple Cider Vinegar Cocktail 3 or 4 times a day. Along with relieving the pain of arthritis, blood pressure also normalizes. The natural acids and enzymes in raw apple cider vinegar help thin and cleanse the blood.
Bragg also recommends cutting down on animal proteins and eliminating refined sugars. Animal proteins and fats tend to thicken the blood.

Muscle Cramps

Bragg recommends the same Cocktail recipe for those who suffer from muscle cramps. I remember as a child crying out in the middle of the night and having my dad rush in and rub my legs until the cramps eased. Back then, they were called “growing pains.”
Acid crystals interfering with circulation can cause these sharp pains in the feet or legs. Drinking the Cocktail several times a day allows these crystals to enter into solution and be eliminated.

To add flavor to distilled water, add 1 Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar per gallon.

Natural Antibiotic

Apple cider vinegar is a natural antibiotic and antiseptic that fights germs and bacteria inside and outside the body. We have read testimonials from individuals who have used apple cider vinegar to relieve the following ailments:

  • PMS and Menstrual cramps
  • allergies
  • shoulder and back pain
  • stomach problems
  • chronic fatigue
  • skin problems
  • stiff joints

For best results, drink the Apple Cider Vinegar Cocktail three or four times daily.
CAUTION: Beware of apple cider flavored vinegar sold in supermarkets. It is grain vinegar with an apple cider flavor. You will not get the same results. Look for raw apple cider vinegar in health stores.

Depression Cures

This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his trouble. Psalm 34:6

Living in Heaven or Hell

We make our own heaven or hell by the thoughts we entertain. The Kingdom of Heaven is only a thought away. “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7). Jesus said, “The Kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21).
Within our thoughts is life or death. Feelings of anger, revenge, self-pity and hopelessness drag us into the depths of hell. Thoughts of love, joy, peace and forgiveness bring us near to the heart of God and His Kingdom.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8

Depressing Desires:

It is depressing to desire something that is not in God’s will. The whole world is in a state of deep depression, though they may laugh on the surface. The world is made up of many wills working apart from God’s will.
Those who get depressed are focusing on self and on their outward circumstances. They are anxious about the things of this world and forgetting to trust in God.

For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness. For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall. As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler (shield) to all them that trust in him. God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect. 2 Samuel 22:29,30, 31, 33.

Booting Out Unwelcome Guests

by Brooke Revere

When I visited Seattle for a couple weeks, I wrote to my sister Skye, the following thoughts about the Kingdom within:

Just think, you never leave this body, no matter where you go. You can’t escape, you can’t run away, you can’t break out, you can’t bring anyone in. You’re stuck, along with any feelings or worries that you allow to come in.
The only guests that can penetrate your walls are thoughts and concepts. You and your thoughts are always alone. While I’ve been on this trip, I took a look around at the guests that I’ve been harboring, and decided to do some serious housecleaning. I didn’t like some of the guests that I’ve allowed to board in my house.
Bitterness and Resentment were rather easy, they haven’t been here long and they didn’t have much luggage to pack.
Boredom and Uselessness fled before I got to their room, and now I am cleaning the mess they left behind.
But Worry and The-Future-Is-Dim have slammed their doors in my face and refuse to unlock them. I will have to call the locksmith, Prayer, and the moving van company, Hope, to evict my unwelcome guests.
I have been repainting and improving some of my rooms so Contentment and Ever-At-Peace will feel more at home here. I would have done it sooner, but Procrastination gave me some trouble. He was in the habit of dumping his garbage in the hall, making it difficult to do anything. I’m trying to get that corrected.
Disappointment was always vandalizing my house, though I caught him and his accomplice, Vanity, red-handed. Vanity seemed like such a gentle and harmless creature, until I realized that she was the one opening her window for Disappointment to sneak in.
I didn’t realize how much responsibility it is to be a landlord. I tried to shut myself up in my bedroom and let the rest of the house run itself. But while living in a new environment, I awakened to the realization that a small Kingdom inhabits my own soul. Either I can let it run wild, or I can take responsibility for it. I choose how to run my Kingdom and whom I entertain. I pray that with Christ’s help, my little household will be a better place to live in the years to come. []

Quick Depression Cure

Instead of lying around nursing Mr. Depression, get up and start working with your hands. Sweep the porch, do the dishes. “Little busyness” helps get the mind off of big troubles.

“Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD” Psalm 31:24.

My Kingdom

A little kingdom I possess
Where thoughts and feelings dwell,
And very hard I find the task
Of governing it well.

For passion tempts and troubles me,
A wayward will misleads,
And selfishness its shadow casts
On all my words and deeds.

I do not ask for any crown
But that which all may win,
Nor seek to conquer any world
Except the one within.

Physical causes that may aggravate depression:

  1. Low light conditions. For some people, cold, dark winters are depressing. If you can’t move to a sunnier location, try installing some full spectrum lighting to simulate sunshine.
  2. Tooth decay. One bad tooth can infect the whole body and make you feel rundown and discouraged. Get the tooth repaired or extracted to stop the bacteria from poisoning the body.
  3. Blood Sugar problems. Caffeine, alcohol, chocolate and white sugar products can play havoc with the body, causing severe highs and lows. Along with these physical imbalances, comes an emotional roller coaster ride where you soar up to Cloud Nine then plummet down to the Pit of Hell. After another sugar or caffeine fix, the roller coaster ride starts over. To get off the roller coaster, stop providing the fuel.
  4. Hormonal imbalances. Woman, particularly, can have mood changes that go up and down with their monthly cycles. Eating an apple a day helps to smooth out the emotional ups and downs of menopause. Apples contain boron, which boosts blood levels of estrogen and other compounds that prevent calcium loss and bone demineralization. Returning to the Ideal Diet (page 47) also helps avoid many common afflictions associated with menstrual cycles and menopause.
To make Fresh Applesauce, peel and quarter 4 apples. Put in food processor or blender with a little apple juice or water. Pulse until sauce forms. Add a ripe banana for creaminess. Flavor with cinnamon and vanilla. Eat right away before sauce turns brown.

Walk for Health

“Walking preserves health and lengthens life. Walking - free striding, free-swinging, rhythmic, brisk but unhurried walking - is the perfect aid to digestion, elimination, circulation, relaxation of body, mind and spirit.
“The next time you feel low, go out for a walk. See how your mood changes, how the dark color of your thoughts becomes gradually brighter. Your low spirits will not accompany you very far on a good walk . . . The mind cannot remain depressed when the body is in motion.” Gayelord Hauser

Chronic Fatigue

Did you hear about the recently scheduled seminar on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? It was a failure. Everyone was too tired to go.

No Free Advice

A doctor was fuming when he finally reached his table at a banquet. A woman who sought his medical advice delayed him 10 minutes. “Do you think I should send her a bill?” he asked a lawyer who was sitting next to him.
“Why not?” the lawyer replied. “You rendered professional services by giving advice.”
“Thanks,” the physician said. “I think I’ll do that.”
When the doctor sat down at his desk the next day to send a bill to the annoying woman, he found a statement from the lawyer. It read: “For legal services - $50.”
