Old man finally dies
That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows
corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your
mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in
righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24
Eventually, you will no longer need to sign the old name because everything
that was in that name will be dead. The old person will no longer have any
liabilities. Everything in the old name will have been terminated. As you go
through the probating process, don’t be too anxious to move over to the new
name. Even though we want to be the new man in everything we do, we can’t leave
the old man out in limbo with outstanding liabilities. If we do that, we’ll be
in trouble. It could be considered that we changed our name for fraud or deceit.
If the old man has incurred long-term debts or mortgages, consider being
defrauded. Let the bank foreclose and then start over, resolving not to go in
debt again. Try to become debt-free in a year and a day.
When everything is moved over to your new, God-given name, keep the name
unspotted from the world. Do not succumb to the temptation to get a bank
account. Don’t buy insurance. Don’t register your vehicles with the state. As
soon as you do, you’ve polluted your name and it will be difficult to undo it.
Once you have broken the ties to the world system and become a member of His
body, the Church, you are civilly dead. You have no secular life. You withdraw
from worldly politics. You do not seek public office, vote in elections or sit
on the jury. You break no laws and push no lawsuits. Your only politics is with
the Heavenly government for it is not possible for one soul to serve both God
and Caesar. You do not join with the state in achieving worldly goals because
you have been separated unto God for His purpose. Everything you do is for Jesus
Christ. Christ must be all, and in all.35 The only debt owed to
Caesar is the continuing debt to love one another.36
