The Embassy of Heaven
Church is not a building, it is not a piece of ground, it is us. We are His body.
Sometimes that is easy to forget in a world that does not know Christ. The world keeps pulling on us,
trying to get us away from Christ. That's the battle we have before us.
Today's topic is overcoming
the adversary's questions. How do we give answer to police officers, jailers
and judges when they attempt to enforce their laws upon us? We believe very
strongly that we are ones that are not required to be obedient to the State law.
Not that we do things that are ungodly, but simply that we don't have to obey
the commands of the State. One of
our primary conflicts is over traveling. The State demands that we get a State driver's
license and we believe we do not need a State driver's license. There lies the conflict.
Aiming for the Gold
When we are hauled before
their courts for allegedly disobeying State laws, we can either aim for the gold or try
for the silver. The gold prize is this: "I am of the body of Jesus
Christ. I have been set free of the law because the law has been nailed to His cross. I can no longer be condemned.
"That's the gold.
The silver prize is: "Well, if I was under the law, then here
would be my argument."
We've often found it very tempting
to go after the silver prize, because our adversaries misuse their own law.
These people are zealous to imprison and harm us
because we are openly going against their decrees.
They write up citations that are
simply not a proper use of their law. It is very tempting to go after the silver prize, to
get in and make a defense. Aiming for the gold prize is a little bit more difficult.
You have to talk about Jesus Christ, you have to talk about the scripture, and most of us
just simply are not qualified to try to present these principles. What we are confronted
with is the dilemma of trying to make a defense under the law versus just simply
standing in Christ.
Winning in Court
Ever since we entered this
battle, we've been trying to improve our argument, hoping to win in court. If we could
somehow make the right argument, they would leave us alone - or so we thought. The mark
we aimed for was to win in court. We started off not knowing anything about what we
were doing. When we'd lose, we'd try to improve our position. We started studying their
statute books. We became very intelligent about their laws. We found discrepancies. They
were charging us with things that could not possibly be valid.
For example, we would be
traveling down the highway, get pulled over by a police officer, and somehow get charged
with failing to carry or present a driver's license. That's a jailable offense. The
problem with this charge is that it only applies to people who have a valid driver's
license. Here we are with no valid driver's license to present. Either it's expired,
or we turned it into the State because we didn't want it anymore. Therefore, we are not
ones that have a valid driver's license that we can carry or display. Thus, it was very
tempting to go into those courts and argue under the statutes about the ridiculousness
of asking us to display the impossible.
We kept progressing in the
knowledge of their statutes. Sometimes we'd make successful arguments and sometimes we
wouldn't. But we kept narrowing in on what we viewed the mark to be - victory in
court. We kept honing in and getting closer and closer. All of a sudden things
changed. Instead of getting decisions that we thought would free us and keep us from
being dragged into those courts anymore, now the judges were rendering decisions that
totally didn't make any sense. We'd build a defense, a perfect open and shut case, and the
judge would render a decision like he was in a drunken stupor. And yet we were hitting the
bull's-eye. We couldn't get any closer to the mark. What did this mean? The only
explanation that I can think of is that we were shooting at the wrong mark. We should have
been shooting at a totally different target!
Temptation of Building a Defense
We knew from the beginning
that we should not make a defense, but it's very tempting. It is so tempting to make a
defense. The reason it's tempting is because there are volumes and volumes of laws out
there which men pass through their legislative assemblies. They say: "You shall do
this!" or "You shall not do that." They just write them up and write them
up. And they write so many of them that it is not possible to even be able to keep track
of all the laws. But there they are with all their laws that say you shouldn't do this or
that. And you figure, "Well, what should I do? They want to try me, they want to put me
before a judge and they want a jury. They want 6 or 12 people to sit there and decide
whether I disobeyed that law or not." And the whole system is founded on the premise that everybody is under the law -
including you. Thus, they want to drag you into court and
tempt you to build a defense.
For example,
a
member of the Church was recently charged with eluding a police officer. He went less than 300 feet
from the time the officer signaled him to stop, traveled no faster than 20 miles an hour
and headed into his own personal driveway. That isn't very far and it isn't very fast. And
the place that he went wasn't like he was going cross country. Thus, the temptation to
build a defense was great. He thought, "How could anybody consider that I was
eluding a police officer with those kinds of facts?" So he was tempted. He tried
to show the ridiculousness of the charge. And he failed. He went through the whole process
and defended under the law. What did we learn from that? We should NEVER build a
defense. Our full justification is in Christ.
Never Build a Defense
In the beginning, I had a
strong feeling that we should not defend under the law. But it wasn't a conviction because
I didn't understand why. It was just a feeling, something that came from Heaven,
from God himself saying, "You're not to defend yourself. My children should not
defend themselves before men." But I could not figure out why. But after witnessing
the way judges trample our pearls, it is now a conviction.
The reasoning is very
simple. Our position under the Embassy of Heaven Church is that we are not under the law.
We are not under men's laws. We consider ourselves of the government known as the Kingdom
of Heaven with Jesus Christ as the head of that government.
And we are expressing His government through our activities.
We're officers for His government. And our government does not place us under the law. Our
basic premise is coming from the Sermon on the Mount. We love God as Number One and in so doing we also love
neighbor. We've come to save lives not to destroy them. We
need not justify our actions before men. Scripture says we are not to be judged.
Ambassadors Not Subject to Local Laws
Why are we not to defend?
Here's the position. We are ambassadors sent on a mission by the Embassy of Heaven Church.
We have diplomatic immunities. What we're saying is we're not under the local laws.
Now what happens if they haul you off to jail and you turn around and start defending as
one who is under the law. Now you prove yourself to be a lawbreaker.
In other words, if the
horse you start riding says, "I have immunities from the law. I'm not under the law.
The Lord Jesus Christ nailed the law to His cross. I've been buried and raised in
Christ." And you're riding that horse and then you turn around and make a defense
under the law, then you REBUILD THAT WHICH YOU TORE DOWN.
That's exactly what one of our ambassadors did. He was
tempted by the law. They said to him: "You eluded a police officer and our law says
that you can't do that." And the temptation was great - traveling 300 feet, no faster
than 20 miles an hour, going into one's personal driveway. What a temptation! How could
that possibly be construed as eluding? However, in order to prove his own innocence, he
had to bring himself under the law. I don't care whether he won or lost in court. He
happened to lose this time. But even if he won according to the courts of men, he still
lost. Why did he lose? It's simple. Because he placed himself under the law and defended
under the law when his original premise was, "I have diplomatic immunities. I am not
under the law."
Don't Change Horses in Middle of Race
You never, ever can shift
horses in the middle of the race. If you're going to ride the horse of not being under
the law, you better ride it all the way. I don't care whether you have difficulties or
hard times. I don't care if some judge starts yelling at you, threatening you with
contempt of court. It doesn't matter what happens. You may be facing more jail time, they may declare you're crazy,
they may try to work their magic spells and rituals upon you. It doesn't matter what they
do. Once you ride the horse, "I'm not under the law," you cannot defend as if
you were under the law.
Let's take the case of an
ambassador, a worldly ambassador, who is performing his duties for the home country, fully
aware that he is not under the local laws. He gets stopped by the police for exceeding the
speed limit. He says to the officer, "Excuse me, did I do something wrong?" He
then explains that he is a foreign ambassador and not subject to the local laws. What if
the police officer doesn't respond, but hauls him to jail anyway. Can you imagine such an
ambassador changing his mind and building a defense under the local laws? He will never do
it, because his actions were done under the full knowledge that he is not subject to the
local laws.
Lots of people start off
believing they're not under the law. Then the furnace fire gets hotter and they forget
everything they've learned. They start defending under the law. And they're going to lose!
Actually, win or lose they still lose because they've changed their position and
defended under the law.
We Have All Authority We Need
We have been taken out of
the world. We are His ambassadors. We represent the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus Christ brought us a Kingdom. And how glorious that Kingdom is. That Kingdom is a
government. It is the government of Jesus Christ and it will not take second place to any
other government. It will not even consider competing with any of the states or nations or
countries. It is.
We are citizens of that
government. We find
ourselves here in the world, but not of it. We are Christ's ambassadors. And the city
authorities become greatly disturbed when we say there is another authority, a greater
authority, one named Jesus. He has set us free from their local laws. Not that our freedom
is a cloak to do evil. But our freedom is to be righteous, to love our
neighbors as ourselves. That's the freedom, to act on that freedom. We do not need to get
permission from any governments of the world to work for Jesus Christ. He is the final
authority. He is our only
justification. Through the Embassy of Heaven Church, with Jesus Christ as the Head, we
have all the authority we need to go out and do His will.
We Cannot Answer Questions Pertaining to Law
We cannot possibly elude a
police officer, we cannot possibly be reckless driving, we cannot possibly be without
insurance, we cannot possibly be with an unregistered vehicle. Maybe I better rephrase it.
The reason that these things are not possible is because we are not under those laws. When
they ask us, "Is your vehicle registered?" we cannot answer. The question
doesn't make sense, it does not compute.
What if I ask you,
"Is your Volkswagen blue?" That's a question you can't answer unless you have a
Volkswagen. If you don't have a Volkswagen, the question does not apply. You can't answer
'yes' or 'no.'
Any question that
involves the law, we cannot answer. We cannot say 'Yes,' and we cannot say 'No.'
It's a question that cannot be answered because we're not under the law. If we were under
the law, then the question would be valid. "Yes, I broke the law, or 'No,' I did not
break the law." Then you'd go into a trial to determine whether you did or did not
break the law. But if you're not under the law, you can't answer the question and there's
no one to judge anything. Who are they to judge someone else's servant?
Apostle Paul says it very
clearly. "I could care less if I'm judged by you or by any human court."
Why? Because the
things that we are doing are in another realm. They are not to be judged by men. What we
do is strictly judged by God and Him alone. If He sent us, who is another man to
sit in judgment over what God sends us to do? Especially if we're doing His Son's work.
Jesus Did Not Build a Defense
Jesus Christ himself was tried. When
Pilate asked a few questions, Jesus Christ's response was simply this, "My
Kingdom is not of your world. He made no defense.
He didn't say, "Yeah, I'm subverting the nation," or "No, I'm not"; or
"No, I didn't say anything about rendering to Caesar."
He didn't get involved with what he did down at the church, with
his whip and the money changers. He didn't get involved in what he said on the Sermon on the
Mount. No. All he said was, "My Kingdom is not of your world." In other words,
"Pilate and Herod, it's none of your business." But I thought he said it
very diplomatically, "My kingdom is not of your world." I claim we should also
have similar words. My kingdom is not of your world might be sufficient, but we have a few
other things going for us, we actually have His government. His government has
been established. Here, it is known as the Embassy of Heaven Church.
We Are Sent to Preach Heaven's Message
The Embassy of Heaven is
an embassy sent into the world from Heaven. Jesus is the King, where our heart and
hope lies because we will be returning to Him.
When our work and our mission is done here, we will go back to Heaven and be with Jesus.
But while we're here, we're on a mission. We're His ambassadors sent into the world
to preach Heaven's message.
An ambassador never goes
into a foreign country and becomes responsible or liable or under the laws of the
foreign governments. They never have been and never will be. He is subject to the laws of
the homeland. For us it is simply this: to love God and give our allegiance to His Son,
staying true to Him, never giving our allegiance to anyone else. "When I send you
out into the world, don't be tempted to give your allegiance to the foreign
governments."
Don't Commit Adultery With World
Our God is very jealous.
If He sends you out, He wants you to go out, do His work and then come back. He doesn't
want you to go out into the world and join the world. He won't know you then. In
fact, if you join the world, do you know what you've committed? You've committed
adultery with the world. You've
fornicated, you've committed idolatry. Christ is your husband. He sends you into a world
where there are many other husbands known as the State of This or the State of That. If
you join that world, have you not committed adultery? Have you not forgotten who your
husband is? These other husbands or other gods say, "Come, do this!" or
"Come, take our privileges!" or "Come, get our licenses." If you come
when they call, have you not committed adultery with the world? Yes, you have. Therefore,
we must remain separate. Come out and be ye separate. Be not partakers with them.
It's like having a wife
and going on a trip. There are many other women out there. If I go to bed with any number
of them, have I not committed adultery? Just because I leave my home and my wife for a
short trip, do I also have the freedom to have intercourse with other women? No! I'm
barred from that. It's the same way with Christ. If Christ sends us here into the world,
He expects us to stay true to Him, and to Him alone. And if we involve ourselves
with any other gods, how do you think he's going to feel about us? He wants us to stay
unspotted, to stay true and faithful to Him.
Those in Light Don't Need Law
Let's take a look at
hard-core realities. What are we going to do? We have a number of things that happen in
the world. What we don't realize is that when these things happen, we have communed. In
other words, the scripture I'm going to rely upon is, "What communion hath light with
darkness?" If we are of the
light and we are not under the law, then darkness would be those who are under the
law. For if they were not of darkness they would not need the law would they? So those who
are in the light don't need the law. They have fulfilled the law. But there
are people who are very jealous of our liberty that we have in the light. They want to
bring us into darkness.
Overcoming Officer's Questions
Now let's take a look at
hard-core facts. A policeman, as an example, has been trained to bring you into
the darkness. And he does it by posing a single question.
By the response that you make to that question,
you will most likely have communed with darkness. You will have committed adultery - right then and there. And it was
done by words. It was spoken words.
Let's say you're going
down the highway. The police officer turns on his siren and his lights and you pull over.
He approaches your car and says, "May I see your driver's license?" How
are you going to respond? "May I see your driver's license?" If you say,
"Yes," he's expecting to see your driver's license. If you say, "No,"
he's going to say, "Are you refusing to show your driver's license?"
Here's the situation. One
leg is labeled "yes," the other leg is labeled "no." There is a trap
in front of you, and the trap is inviting you to put a leg in it. If you respond to the
trap by putting the "yes" leg in it, it will snap. If you put the leg labeled
"no" in it, it will snap. Either way you've been snared.
You have to overcome the officer's question.
Before we can overcome the
question, we have to realize that the reason the question cannot be answered is because it
is not a foundational question. "May I see your driver's license?" does not
establish foundations. It assumes you are one required to have a driver's license.
What I'll call it is a question that is way up in the trees. To answer the question you
have to see the same thing the officer sees. You have to be up there sitting in the tree
with him. He must see that you are under the law and you must also see that you are under
the law. When you see that, you can answer his question.
To make that clearer, I
will use my daughter Brooke as an example. I ask her, "Brooke, have you finished the
dishes today?" That's not a foundational question. I'm assuming that since she is
part of this household, she is required to wash the dishes. And when I ask the question,
"Have you washed the dishes?" I'm expecting a "yes" or a
"no" answer. Her mind set should be that "Yes, I am one required to wash
the dishes and either I did or did not wash them." If she says, "No," then
I say, "You didn't! Go sit in the corner for half an hour."
But if I say, "Art,
have you finished washing the dishes today?" I'm assuming he's one required. If he
says, "No," he would have jumped up in the tree believing he is one required to
wash the dishes. Then I'd say, "Art, you haven't finished the dishes, go sit in the
corner for a half hour." But he knows he can't answer the question. The reason he
knows he can't answer the question is because he is not part of this household. There has
been no established foundations that he is one required to wash dishes. How should he
respond? He would say, "Well I am not one required to do the dishes, unless by my
good heart I would ask you and see if it would be all right if I did them for you."
But other than that Art's not under the law of washing the dishes.
The same thing goes with
the governments of the world. When the police officer asks, "May I see your driver's
license?" he is looking for a "yes" or "no" response. And he is
assuming you are one required to have a driver's license, since almost everybody that he
stops is supposed to have one. What would be a possible response? We suggest, "Hi.
I'm an ambassador sent on a mission by the Embassy of Heaven Church. I have diplomatic
immunities. In other words, I'm not under your law. Therefore, I'm not one required to
have any State driver's license and am unable to answer your question. Is there anything
else I can help you with?" In other words, by answering their question, you have
to assume an understanding. If you don't have that same assumption or understanding, you
cannot respond to it.
Let's say he blows the
whistle. He doesn't understand because he's never been approached this way. All he knows
is that if he doesn't see a driver's license, he's hauling you to jail. Let's assume you
go off to jail and you're there overnight.
We Don't Recognize Judge's Voice
The next day they bring
you into the courtroom to be arraigned. They call out your name and you just sit there.
Then the judge calls out your name and you still just sit there. In other words, he's not
your master. You don't know who that judge is. According to John 10, you know the voice of
your shepherd. You look at this fellow wearing a black robe and you know, "Well, he's
not my shepherd." The scripture goes on to say that you will know the
strangers and that you are to flee from strangers. So there's no way you're going
to approach that man.
The jailer notices you're
not cooperating, "He's been disobedient from the day we saw him." He grabs you
by the collar and drags you before the judge. Now the scripture comes true. They haul you
before the synagogues of Satan.
Charges Do Not Apply
There you are standing
before this judge. He's unimpressed. He doesn't take any recognition that you were dragged
up there. He just calmly and collectively starts reading out the charges: "You have
been charged with eluding a police officer, you have been charged with failing to carry or
present a driver's license, you've been charged, you've been charged . . ." He reads
off half a dozen charges. I mean this police officer who wrote up the citations was very
upset because you acted just like a disobedient child.
After the judge finishes
reading all the charges he comes back and says, "Did you understand the
charges?" If you say "Yes," he moves on. And if you say "No," he
says, "Well what's wrong with you? Don't you understand the English language?"
Or he might ask what portion you didn't understand. You can't even answer "No, I did
not understand the charges." The reason? You have to have the same foundation or
understanding the judge has in order to answer his question.
A possible solution would
be to say, "Hi Judge, or whoever you are, I'm an ambassador sent on a mission by the
Embassy of Heaven Church, and I have diplomatic immunities. I'm not under the law.
Therefore, the charges you cited do not apply. I am unable to answer your
question." The judge's question is not meaningful. If you're not under their law, how
can someone reading the charges expect you to understand them?
You Cannot Answer 'Yes' or 'No'
Those who are of their
household are expected to understand the charges. It's just like asking Brooke, "You
have been charged with not doing the dishes today. Do you understand the charges?"
She understands them because she has been instructed on her duties. If she says,
"No," I ask, "What part don't you understand about washing those dishes?
You know we've got a whole book of rules and its in there." But if I turn to Art and
say, "You have been charged with failing to wash the dishes. Do you understand the
charges?" Art can't answer 'yes,' or 'no.' He would have to overcome my
question: "I am unable to answer your question of whether I understand the charges
because I am not one who is required to do the dishes. I'm not one who is subject
to the laws that you are working out of."
Unfortunately, when we
say, 'No,' we are thinking, "Well, I'm not under the law so the answer would be,
'No.'" It's like asking Art, "Is your Volkswagen blue?" Art thinks, "I
don't have a Volkswagen so it's not blue. I guess the answer would be, 'No.'" But by
answering the question, Art has misled everyone. People would assume Art has a Volkswagen,
but it is not blue. Unfortunately, when we enter into the realm of law we get confused. We
don't understand what is behind the question. When I ask you if your Volkswagen is blue,
you understand that you cannot answer 'yes,' or 'no.' It's the same dilemma when it comes
to answering questions about the law. When the judge asks, "Do you understand the
charges?" you cannot answer 'yes,' or 'no.' When you say 'No,' you are really saying,
"No, I don't understand the charges and 'Yes,' I am subject to them. An answer of
'yes,' or 'no,' assumes you are one subject to that law. Just as an answer of 'yes,' or
'no,' assumes you have a Volkswagen.
No Reason for Counsel
Further into the scenario,
the judge presses forward about the counsel issue. "Would you like counsel?" You
can't answer 'yes' or 'no.' "I'm sorry, but I'm an ambassador, as I've told you
before, sent by the Embassy of Heaven Church. I have diplomatic immunities. I'm not under
the law. Therefore, I'm very confused because I don't know why I'd ever want counsel.
There would be no need for me to build a defense. There's nothing for me to defend on. I
can't deny or accept counsel. It's a question that's not meaningful. Are you crazy or
something?" Maybe we ought to ask them if they're "okay?" because they're
asking questions that simply cannot be answered. We cannot answer them. For someone who is
part of their household, they can answer the questions. But for us, we're not going to
jump up in the tree with them and assume their trunk and branches. There's no way!
If they asked us a
foundational question, maybe we could answer. If they asked, "Can we try you?"
or "Are you subject to this law?" we might be able to answer. "Do you have
a Volkswagen?" is a foundational question. "Art, do you have a duty to do dishes
today?" Now that's a delicate question because it assumes Art might be one who has a
duty. In everyday conversation, we usually have no problem communicating. But there are
wolves, foxes, and snakes out there who enjoy double-talking us.
In other words, they pose their question
thinking from one perspective and we answer their question from another perspective and
never do the minds meet. And they keep moving us through the system.
Trap Snaps With Either Answer
Let's take another famous
courtroom question. It's pretrial time. There were supposed to be plea negotiations and
all that has failed. You have still been unable to communicate. Finally the judge says,
"Are you ready to go to trial?" If you say "Yes," he'll say,
"We'll set trial for next Wednesday." If you say, "No," he might say,
"Why not? How come you're not ready? When will you be ready?" He is still
thinking down the road that he is going.
I'll show you an example
of the failure of a 'No.' The man I mentioned earlier who was charged with eluding a
police officer was asked by the judge if he was ready to go to trial. This man very boldly
said, "No!" And the trap went off. KERSNAP! The judge said, "All right,
we'll set trial for next Wednesday!" In other words, the judge didn't care whether
the man said, "Yes," or "No." He didn't care whether he was ready or
not. What the judge did was cause all kinds of due process errors, tempting him to want to
enter into the law. They love to make errors. They make error after error so that
you can appeal and get buried in the laws of men. If we are asked whether we are ready to go to trial, we
cannot answer 'yes,' or 'no.'
I propose again this
possibility, "Hi, I'm an ambassador sent on a mission by the Embassy of Heaven
Church, as I've said before. I'm not under your local laws. I don't understand your
question. There's not to be a trial because there's nothing to judge. I can't break your
law because I'm not under your law." That would be a possibility. We may need to work
on it, but what I am recommending is that you must communicate light. If you stay silent,
they will assume whatever position they want. They'll get you into a 'yes,' or a 'no' by
default, whichever one they like, they'll use. They don't care which one. They will use
the one which is most favorable to them - the one that is most expedient or required by
their higher-ups.
We Cannot Commune With Darkness
Almost every question is
designed to cause you to stumble. These people, such as a court-appointed counsel, judge,
prosecutor, clerk or a policeman work for a system of darkness, a system of heavy burdens.
Any time they ask you a question, your antennas ought to go, "B'BEEP!~ B'BEEP!~
B'BEEP!" and go right off saying, "Whoa! Wait a minute! Where are they
thinking? If they ask the question, where is their mind set? What are they thinking? How
can I respond?" We know that most of their questions, almost every single one of
their questions, you cannot answer "Yes," you cannot answer "No," and
you cannot remain silent. So you must overcome their question with a greater
statement. We make a statement that they must address before they can continue with
their question.
In other words, what
they've done is they are sitting in a great big tree and they want you to come join them
in this tree. Therefore, with your own mind you must fill in all the rest, in order to
communicate with them. As I've said, scripture says, "What communion hath light with
darkness?" There is no communion. Therefore, be not disappointed if you cannot
commune with darkness. In order for you to commune with darkness, you must enter darkness
yourself. Therefore, when you respond, speak from a position of light. If there is
to be any communion at all, they must come to light. They must commune with light. It's
the only way. Do not answer their questions of darkness. Period. Overcome their darkness
with light. As I've been saying, a solution might be: "Hi. I'm an
ambassador sent on a mission by the Embassy of Heaven Church. I have diplomatic
immunities. I am not under your law. Therefore, the question you have asked me I am unable
to answer. For me to answer your question, we would both have to assume that you have
Lordship over me, or that I am part of darkness and not of light. I am from a
separate government." Let your mind go crazy on it. There are many ways to try to
communicate, but remain in light, remain in His dear Son.
Jesus Did Not Answer 'Yes' or 'No'
Jesus remained in light.
He did it over and over. They brought question after question to Jesus and He didn't say
'yes,' or 'no.' But Peter did. Peter made a mistake. At Matthew 17:24 the tax collectors
came to Him and said, "Does your master pay taxes?" Peter came back with a 'yes'
answer. And even if he'd said 'no,' I think he would have been in trouble. A 'yes' or a
'no' is not a proper response. Later they came to Jesus Himself and asked about paying
taxes. When they approached Jesus directly with approximately the same question, it was a loaded
gun. If Jesus would have answered 'yes,' then he would have been no prophet. If he had
answered 'no,' he would have been no friend of Caesar's. He couldn't put either leg out
there with a 'yes' or a 'no' or the trap would snap. Therefore, He overcame them by making
a statement, "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and render unto God that
which is God's." And they were no wiser than when they began. But the question was
posed as a trap. They do the same thing today. Therefore, let us
study the principles of Christ. Let's study His encounters with darkness and how he
responded to darkness. Let's imitate Him.
Overcoming Their Attack
When you do overcome, be
prepared for them to get angry and mad. Be prepared for the judge to lose his cool and want to put you in contempt of court. But smile
because you know you have walked away victorious.
You have won. But if you go in and build a defense and start answering their questions you
have lost - you have lost the crown of glory. I will get a contempt any day of the year
over being tried and making a defense. You have lost by building a defense. You
never go to court, you never defend before any of these people - never, ever, ever, ever.
They are not our judge. The next time they try to take your liberty away
through their licensing laws or other requirements, remember that their government is
foreign to us. We are pilgrims, we are ambassadors of the most High, we are His
representatives.
It's not enough just to
have a righteous life. It is not enough. We must do more than live righteously. We must do
more than help the needy. When we are attacked by
Satan's agents, we must overcome them. We must not
fall into their snares. And their snares are easy to fall into. They continue
and continue to bombard us with question after question. Therefore, we must give
to them the hope that is in our hearts. We must give the words of light. Be not
insulted when you can't answer their question. The question was designed so that those who
are of the Kingdom would not be able to answer it. God designed it that way from the
beginning. In Genesis 1:4 He created the darkness and the light. And He separated them
and that was His first day's work. He separated
them for eternity. There shall be no communion with light and darkness.
Therefore, when they ask a
question in darkness, be not surprised if you cannot answer it in light. There is no
communion. The only way to commune with a dark question is with a dark answer. And guess
what? There are "yes-no's" in darkness and there are "yes-no's" in
light. Be cautious of where the question originates. Did the question originate out of
darkness or did it originate out of light? It's important. If the question originated out
of darkness you must enter darkness to answer it. If the question originated out of light,
you have to enter light to answer it. Then the scripture comes true, "Cast not your
pearls before the swine, lest they trod them under foot and turn and rend you." How is that possible? Because your pearls, that you perceived as
light, were handed to the dark side. A pearl can be a "yes," or a
"no," and darkness does nothing but trod it under foot. They are the hireling. They have no interest in your soul, they have no interest in
your salvation. They have only one thing in mind - their belly. And they're going to buy and sell you. It's your soul
they want.
Therefore, if you're
dealing with merchants of bodies and souls of men, you have nothing to share with them. Nothing!
About
the most that I would share is a declaration. I would have a confession, what I've been
giving all through this. It's the same as saying, "Jesus Christ is my Lord and my
Savior and I will only answer to Him. My entire allegiance is to Him." But they do
not understand that. It goes whirling right over the top of their heads. Therefore, I
believe we need to take a little bit more effort in communication. They do understand
Churches, they do understand government, they do understand diplomatic immunities. By our
numbers, our increasing numbers, we proclaim to them that the Lord Jesus Christ also has
ambassadors and a Government, a real Government.
Unfortunately, we have the
churches of the world that are party to the State. They're incorporated in the State, and
they are numerous. That's where part of the confusion is. Most people say, "I go to
church." But their church has joined with the State. If it wasn't for all the
harlots, we wouldn't have a problem. Therefore, we have to go beyond a simple confession.
When we're talking to legalists - judges and lawyers, and maybe even a few preachers, we
may have to say more. We may have to say, "The Embassy of Heaven Church is separate
from the State of Oregon, it is not incorporated."
Come Out of Her
Prepare yourself up. Put
on the whole armor of God. Be prepared to tell them the hope that's in your heart. Tell
them of the Kingdom, tell them of this government that has set all men free.
You see this is what's so wonderful about the Kingdom. It's not by our works that we enter
the Kingdom, lest anybody boast. It is by God's graciousness. You see every
one of us has committed adultery with the world, every single one of us. Adultery! We have gone to bed with darkness, and God is upset. God is our
husband. Jesus Christ is our husband, one and the same. The Holy
Ghost, one and the same. And we have come short of the glory because we have committed the
greatest of all sins - going to bed with someone else, with another god. Idolatry! There
is no greater sin, and by His graciousness, His graciousness alone, He says, "Come
out of Her. Quit doing that evil, sinful thing that you're doing. Be not partakers with
her and I will receive you once again."
Do you know, under the Old Testament,
under the Mosaic law, it is death. The penalty for adultery is death. God has an
absolute right to put us to death and never receive us. But because of His
grace, not of our works, He will receive us back. And He did it through His Son. That's the hope that we have. In baptism into His Son and
being resurrected with Him we live - and we live forever.
Amen.
